The three films competing for this year's Lux Film Prize are coming to a cinema near you: À peine j’ouvre les yeux (As I Open My Eyes), Ma vie de courgette (My Life As a Courgette) and Toni Erdmann. Don't miss the chance to watch them and let us know which one is your favourite. MEPs will determine the winner of this year's Lux Prize, which will be announced later this year. Read on to find how you can watch the short-listed films.

The short-listed films

This year's finalists cover a variety of genres, topics and artistic approaches: À peine j’ouvre les yeux (As I Open My Eyes), a testimony of a young generation in Tunisia; Ma vie de courgette (My Life As a Courgette), a stop-motion animation film portraying life in an orphanage; and  Toni Erdmann, a political tragicomedy dealing with contemporary corporate culture.

The three finalists have been subtitled in the EU's 24 official languages and will be shown in more than 40 European cities from this month until January.

You can also vote for your favourite film for a chance to win a trip  to the Karlovy Vary International film festival in the Czech Republic in  July 2017 to personally announce the winner of the audience mention.

Special event

The film As I Open My Eyes will be shown simultaneously  in Slovakia, Slovenia, France, Romania, Belgium, Ireland and the UK on Tuesday 15 November from 19.30 CET. After the screening director Leyla Bouzid, actress Ghalia Benali and other guests will engage in a Q&A session at an event in Brussels. You can submit your questions online using the hashtag #luxprize.

Selecting the winning film

MEPs have the opportunity to watch the three competing films over the next two weeks and vote for the film they think should win.

The award ceremony for the 2016 Lux Prize takes place on 23 November during the plenary session in Strasbourg.
