The LUX Prize, main cultural partner of the Venice Days

The poster of the 8th edition of the Venice Days might alude to one of the flagship titles of the British group The Police, released in 1979: "Message in a bottle..."
 
These world-renowned lyrics navigate a path between hope and fear – just as European cinema is facing a period of both hope and fear. Everyone agrees in principle on the key role that the arts and, by extension, culture play in any human or political construction.
 
But, in practice, both seem to be under threat from an increasingly unfavourable political economy, id est public political choices.
 
To underline how fundamental culture is, including the arts and cinema, the European Parliament Film Prize – LUX Prize ("lux" meaning light) is pleased and honoured to serve as the leading cultural partners of the Venice Days.
