LUX Prize goes to the 62nd Berlinale

LUX Prize goes to the 62nd Berlinale

The 62nd edition of the Berlinale is about to start and the LUX Prize will once more open its eyes widely to appreciate the great range of European talent that this festival promises each year. This will allow it to follow its objective to cast a spotlight on the power and diversity of European cinema, while supporting the debate on European identity.

As a matter of fact, the Berlinale has been a place of first interest for some of the movies from the LUX  Prize filmography, such as the LUX winners from 2009 and 2010. Indeed, both "Welcome", from Philippe Lioret, and "Die Fremde", from Feo Aladag, were shown in the Panorama section of this major film festival.

Also, the 2012 Berlinale Competition will see director Hans-Christian Schmid, whose film "Sturm" was part of the 2009 LUX Prize Competition, present his new feature film "Was bleibt" (Home for the weekend).
