LUX Prize directors kick-off the 2012 screenings in Q&A with 27 Times Cinema

Our 27 young film critics enjoyed the screenings of Io Sono Li, Tabu and Csak a Szél and were invited to meet those pieces’ respective directors for an exclusive Q&A session. Artistic choices, production challenges and European Cinema were the main topics of this first gathering of Bence Fliegauf, Miguel Gomes and Andrea Segre under the banner of the LUX Prize.

The Venice Film Festival indeed welcomed the LUX Prize Competition, giving press, the industry and the 27 Times Cinema lucky delegates the opportunity to enjoy three very different yet equally engaging European tales. The screenings were followed by a discussion with the three helmers and moderator Mira Staleva, member of the LUX Selection Panel and deputy director of the Sofia International Film Festival.

After a description of the directors’ artistic calling and a presentation of their previous projects, questions started popping and all kinds of creative features of a movie production were discussed: aesthetics, structure, writing process, inspiration, theme development, cinematography and subject approach were all put on the table and commented on.

This first LUX debate served as a perfect launching pad for the boosting of the Prize to a European-wide scale in the context of the LUX Film Days, which will be held in all 27 European Member States - 27 young cinephiles representing a united European audience poised to discover three major films.
