Ida is nominated for the Golden Globes

After being nominated for the main independent film awards in the UK (British Independent Film Awards) and the USA (Film Independent Spirit Awards), LUX Prize 2014 finalist Ida is now playing in the big leagues, vying for one of the biggest prizes of the American awards season.
 
Pawel Pawlikowski’s highly acclaimed film is now a hopeful for the Best Foreign-language Film statuette at the Golden Globes, the awards handed out every year by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and also the main stop before the Academy Awards. Alongside Ida, another film included in the LUX Prize 2014 Official Selection will be duking it out for the prize: Ruben Östlund’s Force Majeure. Both films with have to go head to head with Russian filmmaker Andrei Zvyagintsev’s Leviathan, Georgian director Zaza Urushadze’s Tangerines, and Israeli duo Ronit and Shlomi Elkabetz’s Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem.
 
The awards ceremony will be held in Hollywood, California, on 11 January.
